Spring is for picnics and pink wine

Are those blossoms we’re seeing budding on the trees? Sprigs of green peeking through here and there?

Spring is certainly creeping closer and we couldn’t be happier! Here at Joburg Wine Club headquarters, we’ve been dreaming of floaty frocks, floral picnics and sipping ice cold, crispy wines.

Especially ones that come in various shades of pink!

If, like us, you’re planning on celebrating the arrival of spring in style, be sure to stock up on some of these gorgeous rosés from our wine partners:

De Grendel Rosé 2019

Pale rose gold in colour, with a pronounced bouquet of watermelon, raspberry coulis and passion fruit. The palate is dry with a medium acidity, packed with red berry flavours and floral undertones.

De Grendel Rosé is the ideal partner for lighter summer fare such as spicy prawns, Portuguese sardines and salads made with red fruits such as watermelon, raspberries, strawberries and pomegranate.

A dry, perfumed and fruity rosé that is perfect for easy sipping on a sweltering day.

Price: R75

Durbanville Hills Merlot Rosé 2018

On the nose, you will find aromas of strawberries, red berries and a bowl of mixed fruit salad – pretty much a picnic for your olfactory system.

Enjoy in good company, on its own or served with salmon and sunflower-dill pesto sauce or shrimp, avocado and a roast corn salad.

Fleur du Cap Light Rosé

Combining the freshness of a low alcohol Chenin Blanc with just a hint of Pinotage, Fleur du Cap’s rosé is light-hearted and full of fun.

The wine’s pale pink, light salmon hue adds the ultimate finishing touch, whether you are socialising at home with friends, going out for lunch or enjoying a much-needed date night, with the added benefit of allowing you to enjoy yourself just a little longer.

Groot Constantia Rosé 2018

Comprising Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc, Groot Constantia’s Rosé bursts with fruity flavours.

Due to minimum contact with the grape skins, the wine has also developed a lovely delicate shell pink colour. On the nose you will find a bouquet of strawberries, raspberries, melon and a hint of jasmine.

It pairs perfectly with salads, light pasta, rice dishes and especially well with seafood.

KWV Classic Collection Rosé 2018

With its bright, salmon-pink hue the KWV Classic Collection Rosé is something of a showstopper!
