Diemersfontein Wine & Country Estate

Diemersfontein is a working wine estate, with a fully operational wine cellar, renowned for its award-winning Pinotage – a uniquely South African cultivar.Only 5 minutes from the charming Boland town of Wellington, 45 minutes away from Cape Town, and 40 minutes from Cape Town International Airport, Diemersfontein is truly a world in one, within a wealth of possibilities literally on its doorstep.

Richard Sonnenberg planted the first vineyards in the 1970s and in 2000 David built a cellar and started producing wines. Diemersfonteins’ maiden vintage (2001) won the Paul Sauer Trophy for a wooded Pinotage at the SA Young Wine Show, and today the Diemersfontein brand continues to enjoy the success in attaining numerous wine awards.

Seasons Restaurant at Diemersfontein offers fresh local cuisine, set amongst some of the most beautiful scenery in the Cape Winelands.

Diemersfontein  offer 30 en-suite guest rooms, ideal for those preferring privacy and true wine estate tranquility. It is also the ideal wedding and conference venue.

Diemersfontein contributes to its environment in many respects - through the founding of a primary school for all members of our surrounding community, the creation of a black empowerment company for worker shareholding participation, a wine range supporting Bird Life South Africa’s penguin conservation project (“For the Birds”) and a programme for the showcasing and sponsorship of talented young South African musicians and singers.
