Last month, in partnership with Wesgro, we invited six of Johannesburg’s most dynamic storytellers to join us for a three-day winter exploration of the winelands.
Over the next week or so, we’ll be taking a little trip down memory lane to see what they got up to, where they went and how they got around. Maybe it will even inspire you to book a little winelands adventure of your own!
The storytellers arrived on a bright and warm Wednesday afternoon. Unusual for July? Not quite! Even in mid-winter, the winelands tend reward visitors with absolute gems of days – or even weeks.
The first of our guests – Asanda, Ayanda and Enock – checked into the gorgeous Lanzerac Hotel & Spa and almost immediately got treated to relaxing massages at the Lanzerac Spa. In keeping with the laid-back mood, they got to spend the rest of their afternoon lounging in their suites and enjoying the estate’s breath-taking views.
As evening drew near, it was time to hop on board the Adventure Shop minibus, that would be our transport for the rest of the week and head on over to Delaire Graff Estate for dinner at Indochine.

While we’re all for cheese and charcuterie platters, Indochine offers a complete alternative to familiar wine farm fare. The Asian-inspired cuisine makes for an evocative, fine dining food theatre. Here, delicate flavours come alive in harmony with one another and each dish is synonymous with vitality, wellness and healthy living. Indochine has certainly mastered the art of turning Asian tapas into a whole sensory experience. Expect to find signature dishes like pork belly and duck; and maybe even opt to do a tea ceremony.
With bellies full and eyes almost falling closed, we headed back to Lanzerac Estate for a dreamy night’s rest in the lap of luxury.
