Painting the town Royal Red

You know how it is when you meet someone for the first time, but feel an instant connection – like you’ve been friends forever and then some?

Well, that’s kind of how we feel about each and every person who has become part of the Joburg Wine Club journey over the past six months.

Since our magical launch party at Once in Joburg in November last year, we’ve loved seeing our events grow and take on a life of their own.

Our hearts are bursting with the happy memories shared with so many wonderful people at our Royal Red event this past Saturday in celebration of robust red wines and everything we love about winter.

Held at Katy’s Palace Bar in trendy Kramerville, we were blown away by the absolute style and flair each guest brought through the door with them and are so grateful for the amazing feedback we’ve received.

Here’s what some of our guests had to say:

Luyanda Madonia, David Tlale and Ayanda Nhlapo

“The Joburg Wine Club is my family and every event has been truly special, leaving me with nothing but beautiful memories. This time’s Royal Red theme was an exquisite way for wine and fashion to meet. I thoroughly enjoyed being dressed in Royal Red while enjoying some fine Royal Red Wine.”

Katlego Eyedah Mambolo and Seboni Makgamatha

“This occasion is simply a delightful appreciation of craftsmanship and a pacemaker in the sphere of celebrating South African wine and global influence. The Royal Red event was such an intimate and exquisite experience. Well done and can’t wait for the next one! Bigger and badder and better!”

“The Joburg Wine Club has created a unique platform that celebrates the best of South African urban culture; bringing together premium South African wines with good food, great music and on-the-pulse fashion. For years the South African wine industry has struggled to appeal to the dynamic cities outside of the Western Cape. The club understands well the layered identities of people in the city, who are looking to connect and have a curated wine experience outside of the winelands.”

“I love the Joburg Wine Club’s work celebrating wine culture in Joburg. It’s especially been great seeing young black people looking good and indulging in the goodness of the fermented grapes.”

“It’s true when they say ‘wine flies when you’re having fun’! The event was amazing, socialising made easy and the vibe, the people and the music were the cherry on top. I loved it. We definitely need more of this.”

“The Joburg Wine Club was a magical experience. A meeting of creative minds and a beautiful tapestry of people from all walks of life, with a common love and appreciation for good wine and company. I honestly didn’t want to leave. I cannot wait for the next one, the Joburg Wine Club is stuck with me for life!”
