Going underground with the Joburg Wine Tribe

Last Saturday, we went stylishly subterranean as we hit Zwipi Underground Bar on Ghandi Square with our Joburg Wine tribe for our penultimate #JoburgLovesWine party of the year.

And boy was it a good one!

This time round, we joined forces with JoburgPlaces to bring our wine partners and special guests into the very heart of the old city.

What made it even more exciting is the fact that we had Checkers on board with the #OddBinsArtistCollab exhibition with artworks from four young talented South African artists, Karabo Poppy, Musonda Kabwe, Lauren Fowler and Rose Chaston.

Each of these artists was given a limited-edition Odd Bins estate wine and asked to develop a unique design which encapsulates the specific varietal of that wine. The result: two of the finer things in life - wine and art - brought together in a limited-edition bottle.

During the evening, our guests could rub shoulders with some of the artists, appreciate their work and sample some of the Odd Bins wines in question.

Apart from these tastings, they were also treated to limitless tastings from our wine partners:

Mariette du Toit-Helmbold (Joburg Wine Club) and Lisa (La Motte)

Of course, there was also delicious food a-plenty with a harvest table laid out and DJ Bilal kept the vibe going strong throughout the evening with his dope beats.

To suit the creative flair, our dress code for the evening was ‘Designed’ and, as per usual, we were simply swept off our feet by the sheer style with which Joburg lives, moves, breathes and celebrates.
