Alto Wine Estate
Alto's history dates back to 1693, when it formed part of the larger Groenrivier farm granted by Simon van der Stel. Today, their wines are crafted by celebrated winemaker, Bertho van der Westhuizen whose devotion to his craft is ever present. The estate’s sound reputation for producing world-class red wines can be ascribed, in part, to its excellent terroir. Located in the Stellenbosch Winelands, it is no coincidence that the area is known, locally, as the Golden Triangle.
Alto Wine Estate only produces red wine, including the popular Alto Rouge. The wine tasting centre is open seven days per week, and offers cheese platters and wine pairings.
